I floated this idea a couple of weeks ago so I thought I'd put it down here to keep track of your guys' thoughts. Basically, once the Sons of Siberys have reached epic levels I was thinking of jumping to a side story while I prepare epic challenges. The twist to this sidestory is that you would each basically have a part in DMing it. Each one of you can pick a town off of the Khorvaire map, say Otharaunt up in Aundair, and develop it yourselves. You fill out the town's inhabitants, landmarks and shops, and adventure hooks. That town would be your personal responsibility, and you would have creative freedom over it, with the only rules being 1. Make the town functional and 2. Stay within established Eberron canon.
What I mean by that is that you can't make a fishing village filled with 400 assassins, or be entirely insane and goofy. You can certainly have those characters in there, but the town must function around them.
As you guys develop your towns I will develop a story using the material you provide for me. Perhaps you must accompany The Serenading Sailors of Swordkeep to Otharaunt, and while there the half-orc bard troupe leader is tragically assassinated. Rumors say that the killer is none other than the mysterious urban legend known as the Black Katar. That kind of thing.
Anyway, looking forward to hearing your feedback. If you want to start working on it, just tell me the city/town you choose, and then just go to work on it. Also, don't feel constrained to the city, if you want to put a feral goblin den just outside your town as an adventure hook, all the power to you.
